INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE
Welcome to EN102 OL, Fundamentals of English Composition
II. On separate links
located on the main course webpage, you will find links to the course syllabus that
contains links to weekly specific instructions and assignments, as well as
related web-links.
Each topic will culminate in essays varying in length,
which will be graded. Leading up to
these essays will be varied writing exercises—most of which will be evaluated
and graded. These exercises will
facilitate the development of your essays.
In addition, you will have a series of readings that you will respond to
in guided ways that will help you to write each essay.
I, the instructor, will give you feedback on all of your
writing submitted for this course.
Sometimes this feedback will be comprised of informal responses to your
ideas and insights; other times, I will be suggesting ways for you to improve
your writing. In some cases, I will ask you
to do exercises in the writing handbook in order to resolve grammatical
problems.
You can then respond to me through e-mails with
attachments—and we can have an ongoing dialogue with questions, responses,
etc., exploring the content of the course together.
Writing—both formal and informal—can be an excellent tool
for self-exploration and discovery of insights.
In this course, I have designed writing activities for you to do
this. Please feel free to e-mail me with
any questions that you might have about the readings, writing assignments, or
instructions.
So then—you will be doing many kinds of formal and informal
writing for this course. Just do all the
reading and writing assignments on time, and you will succeed.
