Ritual dimension
I see the ritual dimension enacted in the world today by
many things.
The way we start a baseball game, hockey, basketball or any other sport is a
ritual. We say the national anthem. This has been going on for many
years.
It is a handed down tradition. I think this is how rituals are
created.
Many of us have our own rituals. Such as what we do to prepare ourselves
for
our day, especially on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. It is a
tradition for our families to go to mass on Easter together and spend
thanksgiving together.
Rituals have many different meanings to different
people. It can be a
daily thing, a physical thing, spiritual or emotional thing. It is
something
we do all the time no matter what happens or gets in our way.
Some religions have rituals were they would sacrifice a snake, cow or some
other animal to their gods for a special meaning. This is a form a
spiritual
ritual. An example of a physical ritual is when someone would take an
oath.
Such as in the citadel where the students would perform certain test.
This
is not noted in any book or site, but through stories I hear this. Those
in
the citadel believe that before you go through the training camp you have to
pass the test conducted by the students themselves. It is a ritual for
those
who ever passes these test are chosen to graduate. According to those
already involved in it.
An example of emotional ritual is at a funeral. At every funeral, it is a
ritual to close the casket. This symbolizes the closing of that person's
life on earth.
There are many more rituals performed in the world today. Some we may not
even know about or choose to know about. Such as the Ku Klux Klan and the
Black Panther has their own ritual. Through research I found out, that
back
then to become a part of these hate groups you must prove yourself in a
rituals everyone must past in order to become one. Only God knows why
they
would ever want to do this.
I usually do not have a problem with ritual s as long as it does not involve
in hurting anyone or anything. Rituals are passed down oral or written
traditions that performs a task.
