There will be 3 essays. You will be asked to do all three, and prepare them to be handed in at the final exam. You may type these prior to the exam or you may write them out during the exam period.

You are to answer each of the following in essay form:

1.   Is dissent a good or bad thing for the church? State your reasons. Anticipate objections and respond to them. What degree of dissent is tolerable? What is more important, fidelity to tradition or relevance to the present time? Why?

2.   Is there an image of God which combines both the transcendence and immanence of God? What does K.Rahner mean when he refers to God as Holy Mystery?

3.   Describe as fully as you can the relationship of freedom and responsibility as it relates to faith. Is there a risk to faith. What is it?
